Feature Request: Bundle items as a single item, pull from inventory individually - combo/combination

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Inventory: Can you bundle items together as a single item or special?

We have multiple products for the same price.   We offer a 3 for $20 special, which is a mix & match of any three products.   How do I handle the inventory count?   Do I need to add each item with the discounted amount, so at check out I would have to select three discounted items?   Or do I add each item at the regular amount and apply an overall discount?

Hey @FurnishbyIsa and welcome to the Community!

This isn't something we offer at this time.

This would be a feature request we can pass up but I haven't seen any other requests for this yet. Hopefully other sellers who are looking for this can add onto the thread!

Re: Can square reduce inventory of two different items sold as one?

Hi there!

Unfortunately for bundle created items that combine two separate items together will not reduce your inventory for each.

What you can do is create a discount and apply it to the sale when both items are purchased together.

This will reduce your inventory and also reduce the price to the amount that you like.

Re: How to track inventory with a mix & match 3 for $20 special?

Hey @Baconation, thanks for surfacing!

I can see how this would be a bit tricky for your 3-for-$20 special, especially since inventory is a high priority.

Depending on how you need to track your items, I have three suggestions:

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

I understand how automating this would be super helpful for your business and I'll be sure to share your experience with our product liaison team.

Hope this helps clear things up for now. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Please add this. I have too many varied combinations on the register.  Additionally, I cannot separate the items to frying station and main line printers from modifiers.

Would love this feature, as I sell discounted mystery bags to customers. Currently, I made a single item for the bundle, but I have to manually calculate and separate out the individual items included in the bundle afterwards in Excel in order to allocate revenues and cost of sales within the bundle.

PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE.  We need to be able to create gift baskets and sell them for one price, but pull the individual items out of inventory when sold. Honestly, I can't believe this is not already a feature.  AT LEAST give us a feature where we can remove items from inventory for a REASON different than loss, theft, damage, etc.  The reports that we love so much about Square just are not helpful when we cannot see which items have been sold in a grouping or a bundle.

Yes to the last comment!! We need more reasons to adjust inventory!

All my restaurant friends have switched to Toast. I just introduced combo meals at my place and now I see a MAJOR thing missing with square and understand why people say Toast is better for restaurants.

I'm just starting to feel like I have Square Beta and KDS figured out and working together with work arounds for combo purchases and now I find out other companies like Toast already have a solution?! Well crap...now I'm questioning whether I should try and wrap my head around Square for Restaurants. Thanks @goldburger, I think. 😉

@sodanerdy while it sucks how much catch up square has to do in the restaurant segment right now with only 2 spots i am dealing because i know square is superior, at least for me. my friends with 5 locations just switched, and thats what i hear, that toast is better once you scale with many locations... so i am not switching even though there are def things that should obviously be a part of square and is inexplicably not. like.... this thread started in 2016?!

Five years later and it's still not implemented or even addressed. Wow.

Looking for this feature too. We have to manually adjust inventory.

Square Support:
How do we get this feature escalated to the Retail Product Team(s)?
It has been a discussion item since 2016 and it is apparent it is a huge feature for customers. We recently opened a service and grouping beauty items to apply discounts, loyalty, reporting and most importantly - adjust inventory when the bundle is purchased has tremendous value. I tired create a Discount "bundle" and the feature set is incredibly limited. When I found this thread, I was encouraged until i saw the POST dates. Not excited about having to create a whole new inventory item just to track reporting and checkout while my inventory then needs to be manually calibrated (ripe for error and inventory drift - and makes complying with FTC guidelines difficult).
