Feature Request: Bundle items as a single item, pull from inventory individually - combo/combination

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Inventory: Can you bundle items together as a single item or special?

We have multiple products for the same price.   We offer a 3 for $20 special, which is a mix & match of any three products.   How do I handle the inventory count?   Do I need to add each item with the discounted amount, so at check out I would have to select three discounted items?   Or do I add each item at the regular amount and apply an overall discount?

Hey @FurnishbyIsa and welcome to the Community!

This isn't something we offer at this time.

This would be a feature request we can pass up but I haven't seen any other requests for this yet. Hopefully other sellers who are looking for this can add onto the thread!

Re: Can square reduce inventory of two different items sold as one?

Hi there!

Unfortunately for bundle created items that combine two separate items together will not reduce your inventory for each.

What you can do is create a discount and apply it to the sale when both items are purchased together.

This will reduce your inventory and also reduce the price to the amount that you like.

Re: How to track inventory with a mix & match 3 for $20 special?

Hey @Baconation, thanks for surfacing!

I can see how this would be a bit tricky for your 3-for-$20 special, especially since inventory is a high priority.

Depending on how you need to track your items, I have three suggestions:

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

I understand how automating this would be super helpful for your business and I'll be sure to share your experience with our product liaison team.

Find step-by-steps on applying discounts in our Support Center.

Hope this helps clear things up for now. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Hey @slainte - Thanks for posting!

Tracking ingredients is a popular feature request that we're continuously tracking. To join others asking for this, I've merged your post with this thread and so you can see @Spenser's comment on app integrations that allow this functionality.

My wife and I own a flower shop. Our product (arrangements) consist of multiple inventory items including containers, packaging, various flowers etc. To make things more interesting there is no consistent ratio of specific flowers used in particular bouquets. My wife is creative and does not do "cookie cutter" arrangements. We cannot figure out a way to have inventory automatically adjusted upon the sale of an arrangement and there does not appear to be a way of marking inventory as sold manually. You can mark items as damaged, lost or stolen but not sold. We would love to be able to track and report on inventory sales so we might predict what needs to be restocked for specific events and times of the year. Has anyone run into this problem and have any creative solutions? Better yet; am I missing some functionality in POS or retail that could solve this? Thanks for any feedback!

Hey @Ericasgarden - Square's inventory system (both Standard and Retail) doesn't have the ability to track supplies of a product, but it's a popular feature request we are still tracking.

As far as inventory reporting, the inventory deducts automatically when you sell an item, so there's not a built in stock action for 'sold' but I can certainly pass your feedback along to the Product Team so they understand your biz needs and make improvements.

Thanks Justin,

It is a terrific line of products that we love and use to run most aspects of our business. This feature (even the manual work around) would be huge for us and I imagine we are not alone.

Thanks again, Pete

@Ericasgarden - You're definitely not alone on this one! I've moved your post to a thread where others are asking for the same thing. Even though @JohnandSyl is looking to track ingredients, both of you are asking for similar inventory tracking features.

Here is where we'll update you if anything changes so keep an eye out. Thanks for posting 🙌

Hello,

I use Square register for a quick serve restaurant, I need to bundle a sandwich and a drink for a discounted price.

How can I accomplish this using Square register?

Thanks,

Hey!! Thanks for posting. We have something very close to what you are looking for, but you may need to play around with the features some to get what you are looking for. Recently, we released Automatic Discounts that allows you to customize if a discount will be applied to a category group or a specific time frame (say for happy hour).

Depending on how you have your account set up, you can either create a separate "Sandwich Combo Item" that will have a discount immediately applied, but you may also get away with applying an automatic discount to a specific category (say sandwiches) if you have a different item set up than what I'm thinking about.

I hope this helps some! Please let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't solve my problem.

I have 2 categories (Shakes and soups). The discount is supposed to be a certain price when customers buy a soup and a shake (as opposed to buying 2 soups, or 2 shakes).

The discount should apply ONLY when customer buys one from each category, and not 2 items from a single category.

How can I accomplish this?

Hey @NoobieDoobieDoo -

I'm afraid there's not a feature that does exactly what you're looking for. Another seller asked a similar question which we're tracking on this thread to keep everyone in the same place. Come back here for updates!!

Yes, this is a very important feature for fast food (QSR) restaurants. Hope you guys solve for this as soon as possible.
