Feature Request: Bundle items as a single item, pull from inventory individually - combo/combination

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Inventory: Can you bundle items together as a single item or special?

We have multiple products for the same price.   We offer a 3 for $20 special, which is a mix & match of any three products.   How do I handle the inventory count?   Do I need to add each item with the discounted amount, so at check out I would have to select three discounted items?   Or do I add each item at the regular amount and apply an overall discount?

Hey @FurnishbyIsa and welcome to the Community!

This isn't something we offer at this time.

This would be a feature request we can pass up but I haven't seen any other requests for this yet. Hopefully other sellers who are looking for this can add onto the thread!

Re: Can square reduce inventory of two different items sold as one?

Hi there!

Unfortunately for bundle created items that combine two separate items together will not reduce your inventory for each.

What you can do is create a discount and apply it to the sale when both items are purchased together.

This will reduce your inventory and also reduce the price to the amount that you like.

Re: How to track inventory with a mix & match 3 for $20 special?

Hey @Baconation, thanks for surfacing!

I can see how this would be a bit tricky for your 3-for-$20 special, especially since inventory is a high priority.

Depending on how you need to track your items, I have three suggestions:

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

I understand how automating this would be super helpful for your business and I'll be sure to share your experience with our product liaison team.

Hope this helps clear things up for now. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Thanks for adding your voice here, @Downrivermarket. We know this feature would be a huge win for a lot of our Sellers, and we hope to have some good news on this front soon. Thanks for hanging in!

$99 a month is not inexpensive to a small business just getting started  - I am starting my 3rd year and it is out of my budget. I have no idea why square cannot offer up the ability to kit or bundle items together. I make bath and cosmetic products and want to make kits/bundles, but it is a daunting task to go in and have to manually edit inventory each time a bundle sells for each of the items.

99 a month? Wow. It’s definitely increased then. It was 25 dollars when I used it before

$25 looks like a steal compared to now. I was in shock when I checked it out. I am trying out trunk right now - (referral link https://www.trunkinventory.com/r/MayberrySoapCompany) - $40 a month for the pro plan and it will bundle and link several e-commerce sites together if you have multiple platforms. So we will see. Hope it works out, gift baskets are great for my products.

I've read the other posts about tracking inventory but I haven't seen a solution to my question. Can we track backend supplies? For example, when I sell a pie there are two things I'd like to track: pie crusts and pie clamshells. Some other things where this would be useful would be spoons, logo stickers, lids, etc.

@schemjo tracking supplies/ingredients when an item is sold is a limitation with Square's inventory system. You'll need to create items for crusts as well as clamshells then add stock to each in order to track them.

I am a mobile automotive mechanic. How do I track my labor separately from my parts sales?

We would also like to see this functionality!!  Very difficult to manage inventory without this feature.

Is there a way to track supply inventory that isn't necessarily sold to a customer?  I'm a hairstylist and want to track my supplies I use (foil, color, supplies) that doesn't actually get sold, it's supplies that already built into my services.  I have the BT scan gun and would like to scan it so I can keep inventory record but not have it show up on a receipt to the customer since it's product I use.   I created a group called "supplies" but I'm having a hard time with QTY and it showing up on the receipt.  Not sure if I'm even doing it correctly.

Thank you for any assistance!

Hi @ShearlyAttitude !! Thanks for stopping by the Community. Hope to see your face here more often 🙂

Right now, the ability to track supplies is a feature request that hasn't been implemented yet.

I moved your post to a different thread for tracking.
