Square's Shipping Profile system - in a word... atrocious

You're given a "default" profile to use for everything UNLESS you create a custom profile and assign it to an item(s).   That would be useful IF you could set different rates based on weight (without upgrading) or purchase price (like you can with the default). 

I'm seriously considering shutting down my square site and going somewhere else I'm so aggravated.  Here's my issue....

We make goat milk soap bars on our farm and have a sliding scale based on how many bars you buy, the shipping goes up some.  We also sell another product in 1 lb increments.  If I create a different shipping profile for this item, I can't do by weight.  I can only do it by Items or Order.

By Item - The customer gets ripped off

By Order - I get taken to the cleaners

I've spent DAYS researching this and see so many complaints about this - it's clear nothing has been done to accommodate for this issue. 

We have enjoyed square, but the lack of options an basic needed functionality has us considering other options - unless someone has a work around - I don't see much other choice
