How do I set up the online checkout to accept Digital items and Shipping items on the same checkout?

I have several items on my store.  Some are digital others are physical items  When the customers selects a digital item and selects a physical, and then they look at their cart,  there is an "error" message at the top of the screen that basically says.  "items in your cart have different fulfillment methods, you must purchase them separately.      How do we allow both types so the customer doesn't have to do multiple transactions?

There isn't a way right now to do this unless you change all your non-physical items to physical or vice versa. I'm merging your post into a feature request thread about this so you can get updated if we do support checking out with both in a single cart.

Hello @ECCOTA, jumping in for Alex. 

 

Per the error message, you are receiving. It seems like you can't process both a donation and a physical item to be picked up under one transaction. You will need to process these transactions separately. This is a feature request that we don't have available as there is no way to set the "Fulfillment Method" to Pickup & Delivery for a donation Item. 

 

We continue to take feedback on this feature and will make sure to update you here on any changes. Let me know if you have any other questions. 

Hi, any update on this? Having the same issue with accepting donations, memberships and selling products.

Is it possible to add a "donation" box to the check out page of an online store?

We are a non-profit and would like to add a quick donation box while the user is checking out for their purchase? I see there is a place to add a gift card, but would like to include for donations as well.

I also have a nonprofit organization and would love for this feature to become available one day. In the meantime, you can add a donation item in your Item Library for your customers to donate. However, this button will not show at checkout, it will be added to your website as another Item for them to purchase/donate.

We (a nonprofit) are having this same problem and it is a big deal especially since we are ONLY doing online sales with pickup.  We would really like to be able to have people add a donation to their order. Can we escalate a fix for this?

I've created a site for a special event at our church. We want to sell food items plus add an optional donation section. While I was able to do that, it won't allow me to put food in the cart and a donation in the same cart, saying that "The items in your cart have different available fulfillment methods (pickup, digital delivery). You must purchase these items separately." Also, if I add a donation to the cart first, and then go back to select a food item, the food items are gone!  Please help. We don't currently support checking out with items that use different fulfillment types. In other words, the items in the cart would all need to be pickup, or all delivery, or all shipping, or all non-physical (event, donation, digital, etc). Hopefully this is something we can support in the future! I'm merging your post into another thread about the same thing, that way if we add this as an option it will make it quicker for you to get notified of the change.

 

 

I am commenting to echo the request made by ECCOTA. My organization just joined square to open an online version of our museum's gift store during the pandemic. I just discovered the limitation of not being able to have customers add a donation to a gift store purchase due to the donation being a "different shipping method."

 

Getting people to donate is all about making it as easy as possible for them. Requiring users to go through the check out process twice is almost certainly going to cost us donations as some people won't bother to take the extra couple minutes to check out again. Please add the ability to collect donations and sell physical items in the same purchase.

We are a school and have started using Square for parents to order from the food menu, as well as sign their children up for clubs and day camps; however, it appears a parent cannot purchase multiple items (e.g. a food order and a day camp) because they have different delivery methods (pickup, digital delivery, etc. per the item type) -- is a purchase restricted to one fulfillment method only? If not, what combinations will work in one order?

Welcome to our Seller Community! I see what you are trying to accomplish. However, our Square Online Store can not checkout multiple items with different fulfilment methods. This is a feature request that I would also love to see in the future.
