Hi,

 

We quickly built a Square/Weebly Online Store this week so that people could place contactless/curbside orders for our gelato shop. It's working great and I love that the tickets print out when it's time to make the order.

 

We are also implementing a local delivery service where people can preorder with us and we'll deliver it on Friday night. Right now we're doing it by email to take their item order and we respond back with a Square Invoice to capture payment. Has anyone successfully found a way to do local delivery with the Online Store platform?

 

It would be awesome if besides Pickup or Shipping, merchants could toggle on a Local Delivery button and the merchant could set a few options, such as "Delivery on Friday night, 4-7pm," "Delivery on Saturday afternoon, 12-6pm." Maybe with an option to assign a fee, but that's less important during this emergency response.

We are currently testing Batch Processing in our Beta Community, which may help you out. This is another update to allowing pre-orders on your online store.  We'd love for you to join in the test and provide feedback.

 

To get started:

Please join our Square Online testing group.
Once accepted there are instructions in the group of how to get started in the test.

We don't have a timeline to share at this time, but we recommend taking a look at @alehner's Best Answer here where they explained how they've set up their website in order to support orders on a specific day.

This may be crazy but we create a ticket for pre orders.  Frustrating because it can't be done on the dashboard only on the app.

 

We recently started using square to run our bakery. The fact that the ability to manage pre-orders with limited release is really hurting our business. We may actually go through the painful process of switching POS systems because of it. We have to offer pre-orders of products for the holidays and really need to be able to limit the days people can order.  

 

Is there any update on whether this will be offered in the near future? 

We are in desperate need of this feature! We are actually considering going through the pain of switching platforms because of it.  It is nearly impossible to keep track of our pending Holiday orders in the current environment.

 

We have to release a pre-order menu for our holiday baked goods and then we have to modify the prep time every day leading up to the holiday to prevent early orders for being accepted. It is really hurting our business.

I've been emailing and begging them for ages and get no where. Looks like people have been requesting this for over a year and still nothing. It confuses so many customers of ours too. We have had to resort to manually emailing every person which is a lot of work and time wasted.
