You may be looking specifically for our newly introduced Deposit Feature for Invoices. This will also allow you to create a single invoice to track multiple payments and reduce the amount of time you have to spend reconciling multiple payments (deposit, follow-up payments) to a single transaction or sale.
Hey rohini, this is encouraging to hear. I think you'll find many of us are willing to be reasonably patient if we know its in the pipeline. A very important feature imo for sure that will add to the Square appeal. I'll jump on the beta or release when it's available.
Reasonably patient is almost absurd. If you look at the start of this thread you will see it is over a year old with multiple acknowledgments that it is important and in the pipeline, never with a time commitment. Square seems to be more than content to service the restaurant business and let the rest of us find ridiculous ways to work around the system. Any real company would have someones ass for not having this implemented long ago. The dribs and drabs of giving these users hope is really kind of pathetic.
I didn't even notice the date. I'm new to square and eventhough I've posted my feelings of how not including this basic feature is hard to believe, I've only been waiting about a month or so. Ya, a year is absurd.
I would like to know when this feature is available as well. This is something that I would use and find it to be an important feature that Invoices is lacking.
It would be stupid if the "system" allowed only for 3 predetermined options. We need the ability to take partial payments. Let's assume everyone has different needs surrounding that. Im sure everyone can figure their split out on their own.
So is it just not possible to make a partial payment with out editting the original invoice and having to write up a new one with the new amount???
If I take it out as a discount named "Partial Payment" or whatever, the amount doesn't go torwards my sales. So that's a no go.
If there is no possible other way, I guess I'll have to do it the first way, but with all this amazing tech, and how savvy Square is with all of this, it surprises me this isn't an option.
It could totally be an option the sender could select if they want to allow partial payment.
Or for cash payments when they only have a partial amount, it'd be great if I could just deduct it from their original invoice.
