You may be looking specifically for our newly introduced Deposit Feature for Invoices. This will also allow you to create a single invoice to track multiple payments and reduce the amount of time you have to spend reconciling multiple payments (deposit, follow-up payments) to a single transaction or sale.

We are in the same boat here.. we rent photo booths and we deal in the wedding industry.  Like every thing else we work on deposit to lock in your date then final payment is due two week prior to the event.  Right now we use square just for the deposit then we use another system to manage the payment portal.. I'd really like to use square for every thing and keep things simple.. The square interface compaired to the other tool is night and day difference where square is way easier for employees to learn and use.  A deposit feature would a huge plus for us and is the only thing keeping us from going to square 100%.. We also notice that sending invoices from square we get paid faster.  I believe this is due to the fact that people all over reconizes square right out the gate due to name Branding Thanks

I need to be able to invoice a total, take a partial payment and show a running balance. How can I accomplish this so it reflects in my bookkeeping

We are in need of deposits, recurring automatic payments and especially PARTIAL PAYNENTS.  As previously stated,I would hate to have to look for another provider that has this option.
