If I issue a refund will the items from the sale automatically be added back to inventory ?

Hi there!
Wanted to follow up on this post. Exchanges with automatic inventory adjustments are now available in the Square Retail App. It's still on the roadmap for the Square Point of Sale app.

@VanKalkerFarms - You're correct.
@sammy270 - While this is definitely a feature request we've heard from sellers, currently when you issue a refund, the inventory for the refunded item will not automatically increase. You will need to manually adjust your stock count from your online dashboard to reflect the returned item. I'll be sure to share this post with our product liaison team and update this thread if anything changes.

Is there a way to set up your inventory so that when you accept a return it automatically is placed back in inventory? We had a book your stock? There was nothing wrong with a book returned, but when we did the refund of the item it
was not placed in inventory. Had to do it manually.

I'm moving this post to another thread where we're tracking this request for the POS App as well. Right now, The Retail App will put these returns back into active inventory, but the POS App still does not have this ability.
We'll continue to track this request for the POS App, and in the mean time manually adjusting your inventory is the best way forward.

If I sell 6 of product A and refund 2 the cash shows correctly but the report still shows I sold 6 items

Refunds do not auto adjust stock back. You'll need to manually 2 more of Product A to accurately reflect stock on hand. @Markets
