Item Missing in Transaction CSV
When I am exporting the TRANSACTION CSV (the detailed one), it is NOT including my items, but the decriptions. We are selling CDs online and want the track listing, this is causing a really big problem when people are ordering multiple items to sort them for book keeping, anyone have thoughts on this? It seems that an Item listing per transaction is WAY better than the item and description. Thanks in advance!

@therockchurch Your questions intrigues me. What am I missing? I export my sales for 2016 (the detailed one) I have a list of my items the description and notes associated with the items.
How do you creat your items with the details about your CD's?
Item-name of CD-price or Item-CDs-name of CD in a modifier? Unless I misread your statement this should not be happening.

I took the most detail transaction I could find and exported the CSV (the detailed one) and I had all three Item names and discriptions listed on my report. Unless your square is not working properly, I think its the way you set up your items. Do you creat a item called CD's and have 15 CD's detailed/named prices, if so, then your will not see the named CD as an item - you will only see the items all with the same name CD's. Is this what is possibly happing? Please let me know if I am missing something.

It's not the exported csv for the individual transaction. It's a Transaction CSV export for multiple transactions (a range of dates). This exported csv report does not have a column for "Items". It only has a column for "Description" in which it takes the Item Name AND the Item Description and puts it together in one column. This makes it nearly impossible to read the report when there are transactions with multiple items purchased. Is there a way to change this export option to split those into 2 columns?

Hi @therockchurch, there isn't a way to separate the items and descriptions in the Transaction CSV currently, for the time being all of that info will be in a single column. However you Item Sales Report will allow you to view and download a report of all of your items sold. Hopefully that helps!

@Spenser Thank you for the reply. I have looked at that report to help figure out which items were in the transactions. The unfortunate part of that report is that it does not distinguish the payment method. Our credit card deposits are entered into Quickbooks as a separate entry from our cash deposits. So it's nice to see which items were purchased with card and which were cash. You can view those by using the filters but when you export the report it doesn't use the filters.

Ah, I see; definitely see how a report with the individual items and payments type would help in this situation. For now the Transaction CSV is the only one that contains both. Thanks for providing the example, I'll pass it along to the team that works on reporting.

Transaction.CSV also omits Catagory. We need that field in our .csv so we can sort and report by catagory. We have a cooperative artist studio and catagorize the art by the artist's name. That way we know which artist sold what

@therockchurch Unfortunately there are several features that do not allow basic key functions. Extremely frustrating. I cant help but believe it is purposely set-up this way to get us to spend more money on compatible add ons for basic function.
@Spenser Any chance there is talk to add a basic custom report of our choice. Seems to be a key function for all. I too have several items I would like to track and would benefit from a basic 101 export feature - a custom report that can be integrated manually to programs of MY CHOICE.
Sorry to be a little flippant - Spenser I know you take great care in providing accurate and useful advise in this forum. Its just extremely frustrating not getting access to basic needs. At times it appears we are given false hope these basic features are being considered when its becoming more and more obvious it will never happen.

The ability to start with one of the standard export functions and add fields to customize it would solve my problem. I could add Catagory as one additional column and have just what I need.... I have a tremendous macro in Excel to delete the columns that have no meaning in our business so I can see the details of what really happend in our business.
