I can certainly see how being able to add a tax line item would be helpful for payments that you accept with Virtual Terminal. While I do not have access to a timeline for when this option may become available with this payment method, I will be sure to raise your post to the Virtual Terminal team.

For now, my best suggestion for being able to include a tax line item is with Square Invoices: Send Square Invoices Online.
