Hi @meros - Thanks for this request. I moved your comment over here so we can track it since it's different than the invoices thread you commented on.
Can you give a little more detail about what you'd like to see in this feature and what your current set up is? That will help the team understand your request.

We do hundreds of catering orders every year in our restaurant. We have customers placing large catering orders in-store but want partial payment. We don't use invoice so we would like to be able to charge them using Square Register half the payment and add the remaining balance automatically to tickets. We'll then charge the rest of the balance when the customer picks up their order. It would also be helpful to have the remaining balance and the amount the customer paid on the printed receipt.

Something like this would be an awesome solution for partial payment:

I would like to take a booking fee (partial payment) for an order and go back to add the details to the invoice later. I am pretty sure you can't change a paid invoice, but I don't have the total amount of the invoice until they finalize their order. What is the best way to do this? I want to avoid having 2 invoices for each order.

@AshleyBakery Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Seller Community! This is currently a feature request so I've moved your post to an existing thread that has a similar request in mind. As a workaround, you can charge the customer your booking fee first, then have a running Invoice for them, adding items in Edit invoice until you know the final balance. The prepayment wouldn't show on the invoice itself, but you can always keep both receipts for your records.

@AshleyK I thought you weren't able to edit an invoice once it was paid in full. Is the only solution to make an invoice on an estimated total and apply a deposit to that amount?
