Can you disable gift card payment for rewards program?

Anyone know how to disable the rewards program when paying with a giftcard?

We had someone pay partially with a gift card adn then the rest on a credit card. Square treated the payment as two transactions and gave them double stars.

That is a great observation. Gift Cards would result in a customer receiving double the rewards if they're buying a Gift Card and then using that same gift card that they purchased. 

However, Gift Cards are intended to be bought by one customer and gifted to another customer to use. 

If you run into a situation where a customer is buying gift cards for the sole purpose of using the Gift Cards themselves and doubling rewards, you can always adjust the stars manually through the Register App as @RyanNewStartN mentioned.

I am not sure if you are able to have it limit per payment type but you can go into the customer after the fact searching by phone number and just modify their current loyalty amount.

Also what I do with my gift cards is I allow for stars to accumulate when using it but when someone loads the gift card with another means such as a credit card I do not give stars for that transaction.

We are new to the Loyalty and Gift Card programs from Square. It would be nice if we have an option to opt out Gift Card "purchases" from loyalty stars.

The problem I see with adjusting after the sale is that if a person is already a member and pays for a Gift Card with the same credit card Square reconizes and automaticly claims the stars to the persons account. You can't say to the customer "hey whats your phone number so I can deduct stars from you"

How do you handle this??

@perkits - If you use Customer Management from the Square App, you can just assign a customer to each transaction. You could always make the adjustment after they're gone if you think it would be uncomfortable. Here are more details.

I see this may be a workaround of sorts, but what would be great is a toggle switch which would exclude loyalty stars when "issuing a gift card" 

I'm not concerned about giving stars for purchases with a gift card, just when issuing funds.
