Hi, like many other Square users, I also want the ability to assign multiple categories tot eh same item but I realize that it will probably not be supported easily.
A simple alternative will be to allow for a new field, maybe call it a 'Label' or that allows one to put in a delimiter separated list of values (which may or may not be Categories). Then allow the POS system to display groupings of items based on each unique value in the classification label. It'll be very similar to the user-defined classification labels in Gmail.
Then, users can create as many Label values that fits their business like Genre, Kinds, Types, Authors, Names, etc. Then during order-entry, they can sort the UI using these groupings.
It should be fairly straightforward to implement this in both your UI and in the import process.
