Cannot change email for the business

Hi, 

 

I’m having issues as when I created the log in for my account I completely forgot to use my business email for it, I want to change it over but every time I go to do it it says

‘Email has been taken’

 

I just need to change it to the business email and it’s not letting me.

In this instance, the message you are receiving indicates that this email address is associated with another Square Account. This could be a previous attempt to sign up for Square, or it could be that you are listed as an employee on another account with this information. Either way, you will need to contact our Support Team directly so that they may verify your information over the phone and release this email address for you.

You can call support on 1800 760 137 (Mon - Fri, 9 am - 5 pm Melbourne time), or contact us via online chat or email. See the below steps.

 

1. Sign in to your Square account

2. Head to our contact page https://squ.re/3AWfZs2

3. Go to "Other", then "I don't see my issue"

4. Click "Message us", "Email us" or "Call Us"

 

Or, if you see the new chatbot help flow, type “support” to bring up a list of contact methods.

I can understand your frustration--let's see if I can help. Are you able to able to offer screenshots of your dashboard?

 

I recently verified our email by going to Dashboard > scroll down to All products > Settings > Account & Settings > Personal Information > Sign in & security

 

... a long breadcrumb but bear with the system! 🙂

To edit the email address associated with your Square account:

  1. Visit Account & Settings in online Square Dashboard.
  2. Under Basic Information, click Change next to the current email address.
  3. If you already have 2-Step Verification enabled, enter and confirm the new email address you’d like to associate with your Square account > Click Next.

Note: If you’re not already using 2-Step Verification, select whether you’d like a verification code sent to the current email address or your phone number > Next.

Enter the verification code > Submit.
In case you don’t see the verification email in your inbox, check your spam folder or email filters. If you selected a phone number, make sure this number can receive SMS messages.
If you can’t access the inbox of your original account email or if you received a verification email and didn’t request the change, contact Square Support.

 

Note: Your email address is used to log in to your Square Dashboard and the Square app on your mobile device.
