need to write an estimate for the job over 50000

My contract estimates can easily go over 50,000,  but the expected draws are less than 50,000.

The estimate program wont let me go over that amount for total estimate

Hey there, @aggsheetmetal

The reasoning behind the max would be because that it the payment limit for transactions. Usually, we ask for any payment over $50,000 be split over multiple transactions.

I would recommend splitting the estimate into multiples under that job information.

In the meantime, I will go ahead and pass this along as a Feature Request for our Product Team. Thank you for using your voice!

This is a much needed feature and on jobs over $50k we only accept checks anyways.  It seems like the $50k limit is really intended to limit the liability on credit card transactions, so maybe an option to all only check or cash payment over $50k would be another option?

And in this case, one could select the payment option for Check & ACH before generating that large invoice or estimate before creating it in the first place.

I agree with PremierPlumbing's suggestion to apply the $50k max to credit card transactions if it's a cc liability issue. The maximum is a cumbersome burden that we have to pass on to clients in the form of mulitple invoices for one project.

We totally agree with all of the companies responses to the $50,000 cap.  It is very difficult to explain to our customers that they are getting two estimates due to our computer system/point-of-sale system not allowing estimates over $50,000. Doesn’t seem very professional

Anyone figure out a workaround? I am at a standstill also. I think the confusion is the transaction but estimates can be for more but not the singular transaction.

The issue with estimates is that they can be converted to invoices once accepted and where the estimate is over $50,000, you run into the same cap restriction.

The simply resolve for Square is to enable these features:

1. That once an estimate of over $50,000 is accepted by the client, the credit card payment is taken off for that transaction, limiting that invoice to only check & ACH payment

2. Alternatively, the concern can be addressed by allowing such large transactions to force the vendor to do split payments. In this case automatically split payments will not be more than $50,000 per payment

I just pray Square looks into this issue very seriously. I’ve been advocating this for over 2 years now. Very frustrating indeed!

@TT999 ;

I said this before about this subject for large estimates, Download a Word or Excel type template, write up your estimate and put in the bottom your terms of payment and remove credit cards or list that all payments via credit card can not be greater that $50,000.  I use LibreOffice Calc to list products I sell to wholesalers as my Invoice that I downloaded from a template.  If someone asks me for an estimate for XXX candles and shipping I just use my Invoice Spreadsheet and change the name to ESTIMATE... and say prices may change if this order is not filled in XX days or whatever.
