Where and when will customers see shipping charges for their Square Online website orders?

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Re: Square Online store: shipping charges

 

I have followed the links to help with this issue but when I refresh my page and look into orders its still not showing the charges. I have already had to cancel orders due to this issue and need help

Re: It seems the only 2 options are to charge a flat fee for shipping or to ship free of charge.

When you were running through the checkout flow, how far did you get into the flow while looking for the shipping charges to appear, @catniplady?

 

I ask because shipping charges will not be visible until you have filled out the YOUR DETAILS section and selected a shipping option. In the screenshot below, you'll notice that a shipping charge isn't visible here yet - this is what you'll see when you first arrive on the Secure Checkout page:

 

 

Once you've filled in those details, the SHIPPING METHOD section will appear below it, allowing your customers to select a/the shipping option:

 

 

Once they're pressed Next here, the screen will look similar to what you see below - notice the shipping charge is now visible where it wasn't when we first got to this screen:

 

 

I hope this helps glue things together so that the checkout flow makes a bit more sense 😊

There is no Your Details section to fill out.

Shipping charges are not displayed in final checkout screen, however the total charge does include shipping. If I change the shipping options, the total charge is updated, but the shipping cost does not appear.

 

And yes, the details have been filled in. I went to the very last step, did everything except click the "Place Order" button

My sales taxes and shipping rate isn't showing up, it's only charging the price of the item. But if I pick the option to pick up in store the sales tax shows so I don't know what is going on.

What is the url of your website? Is there a specific item you are testing that won't show the shipping, and are you making sure to check after adding the address on the checkout page?

Hey there @Frenchitem 

 

There are no confirmed cases or data that indicate a VPN causing trouble with our Square Online Site. However, by my own experience VPNs do filter and sometimes control how a website handles incoming and outgoing traffic. So to be transparent it could be possible that a VPN could stop our connection to mailing carriers to get Real-Time Shipping Rates and as a result, rates would either not be displayed or default rates are shown.

 

Again, this comes from my personal experience and thought process as there is no official statement from Square at this time.

How long do changes happen went with default flat shipping rate and custom settings for flat rate shipping. Made sure tax rate was filled in. Did a test order from my online store in same state. How do i know if shipping and tax works. Shut off VPN. I went all the way up to the pay bottom still no show for shipping rate or taxes. Puzzled.

Changes to the shipping rates of your Square Online Site should be reflected almost instantly but we have seen them taking from 15-30 minutes during busy hours. 

 

If this was not the case then you will want to clear your browsing data and make sure that your device and browser are up-to-date. After troubleshooting the issue and if the problem persists you will want to reach out to our Square Online support team here.

Did anyone ever get an answer to this question? My site was working fine and now it isn't adding shipping or taxes. I went through every item and manually checked that everything was checked correctly. Any suggestions? Waiting on Square tech support to answer also.

No i never got an answer either. The tax space and shipping shows 0.00 at checkout. I have to manually email customers that shipping and tax will be invoiced to them. Pretty tacky and un professional to say to the least! Also, i have cleared browser data, up dated device and browser and disconnected VPN nothing changed. So frustrating!! Where’s the help on this issue?

I was able to test your site and it did update the Taxes and the Shipping rate when I added my address(behaving as expected). Let me know if this has been fixed for you as well.
