HI, hopefully these Square Support pages will help.  You can use the Free Plan for the life of your Online Store.  When your business increases you can upgrade as needed.

To have a .com for your site you do need to have a Paid Plan.  Best advice for a domain, purchase with a domain provider so you can have control, not a web hosting provider.
