Using the API, can I save customer information with an order

I am using the method documented at: https://docs.connect.squareup.com/api/connect/v2/#endpoint-charge which processes the card, the charge is made and
it shows up in the back end. The problem I am having is the customer information is not being saved with the order. I copied the code sample given in
the reference. No errors are given, my credit card is charged. I am missing something. What is the procedure to save customer information with a payment/order?

Also, is it possible to save what items were purchased with the order?
