I love that I can track my inventory and sales, but is there a way to bulk select "Start Tracking Inventory" via the spreadsheets that you can export/import (rather like bulk selecting the tax rate)?
This would be immensely helpful since right now I have to go into each item in my store and select that button individually (and we have over 200 items)...
Any help if I have missed something would be greatly appriciated...and if I haven't missed something, could it be added to the list of possible updates?

Yep! You can use the Inventory Import/Export tool to adjust all of your location inventory at the same time! When you import you new stock levels, your Dashboard will automatically turn on the "Start Tracking Inventory". Follow the steps below:
- Sign in to your dashboard and click Items. (If you’re using multiple locations, navigate to the location specific library you’d like to modify. To do so click All Locations at the top of the Items page > select a location/multiple locations.)
- Click Actions > then click Export Inventory from the drop-down menu.
- Update the values under Alert Threshold and New Quantity > save the CSV report.
- Drag and drop your saved file to the Import Inventory window> click Upload.
- Click Confirm Import > Done.

I am searching for a way to import my inventory list. I keep seeing that if we go to Items there should be an "import/export" option but I simply cannot find it.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

@UsborneMichelle Sounds like you may be using our locations feature, which admittedly can hide the "import/export" button. You'll first need to navigate to the location specific library you’d like to modify. To do so, click an item in your library then click Select a Location under Inventory and click Go.
If you run into any trouble check out this thread for step by step instructions.

On the "Items" tab, you used to be able to import a CSV of your items...
This appears to be gone.
What happened? Where did it go?
Thanks!

Well, partially solved. That works for me... but I'm also trying to assist folks setting up their item inventory for the first time. Here's what that screen looks like... Even if I use your trick to find it on my own, that trick doesn't work for them.
So it looks like they have to create a mock-item first in order to have the option to import?
Either way, it's all very not user friendly. The system used to be sooooo simple. It's a disappointing update to say the least.

@21x20 I'd love to take a closer look at the account that you are having trouble with, that screenshot doesn't look quite right to me. Have them reach out to our Support Team to help out. I've included a screenshot of what the items tab should look like.

I am just adding inventory to my library and cannot figure out how to add quantity. Like if I have 2 or 3 of the same item in the exact same size. There has got to be an easier way than imputing each one

Hey @Kelliekub, thanks for bringing this up. A few other sellers had a similar request not too long ago. Have a look at Kelly's reply and let us know if you have any other questions. Hope it helps! 🙂

Hey, @micharms and welcome to the Seller Community! We hear you that this would save a lot of time. Right now, the ability to bulk delete items directly from the Square Dashboard is a feature request, but you can always import and export your item library to make bulk changes.
I have merged your post with an existing thread in which @kellyj beautifully describes how to do this.
Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

Thanks Ashley. Hard to believe that this is only at the requested feature stage. Seems like a real no brainer to me.

I am trying to export a listing of my Square catalogue in a particular location and import it into another instance? the main reason is b/c I am starting up a secondary business and the costs for the inventory and what I would sell it for would be different in the other location. I would much rather find a way to export and import instead of hand jamming.
does anyone know if this is possible?

I also need a way to bulk edit the stock tracking function. Not by the website backend user interface, but my xls import export - a simple column for Y/N stock tracking would save hours of clicking in the back end

How about the opposite of this. How do you turn on tracking in bulk? Do I have to go into every item individually and make sure tracking is toggled on?
thx
