I am familiar with creating contracts. The problem I am having is that square automatically sends the contract out every time a client books. I want to know if there is a way to only send a contract the first time a client books, and then never again.

A contract being sent automatically at time of first booking (and only the first) would be a feature request at this time, @T-pin.
I've gone ahead and bubbled this feedback up to our Appointments team ✨
We'll be sure to post an update here if one becomes available!

Hi there @JordynWarren92 thanks for your patience while awaiting my reply. Additionally, welcome @iCarla 👋
I was able to get more information on this from the Square Appointments Team. They've let me know that we are actually improving the Appointment + Contract integration at the moment and are planning to release this feature next year. This will resolve the issues of sending a contract for people who have already signed it before, sending a contract for specific services only, and being able to easily see which contacts are attached to an appointment.
I hope this information is helpful but please do let us know if you have any additional questions. Always happy to help!

This will be a nice feature to have. Only a guess here but I would imagine this would be easy to enable on Square side. As long as the customer login then the system can check to see if a contract is on record and has been "Signed" along with the date of when the contract was signed to allow expiration to be performed if needed. Square can see every appointment the customer has already so I imagine it can identified customer contracts. Then again the system will also need to check if the requested contract being sent out is the same contract that has been signed by the customer. Just bumping this feature request. Currently I have to manually send the contract to the customer as I don't want to bug the customer over and over for each appointment.
Along with bumping the feature request to delete\archive any signed and\or non-signed contracts. This will be helpful to clean up the portal when needed. Thank you.

How can I disable contracts. Our clients are getting multiple contracts which are really annoying.

From the main dashboard menu go to Appointments > Settings > Communications > scroll down to "Digital customer contracts" and you can turn off the option to "Send a digital contract to all customers upon booking."
To my knowledge this is the only option for automating contracts at the moment.

If a contract has been signed by a client once, it should be stored under that clients profile.
Clients will become agitated and annoyed if the same contract is attached every single time they book an appointment.
This seems like a super easy thing to understand. I'm not sure why this hasn't been fixed.
Other popular booking sites like Vagaro have had this feature for years now.

Yes please! I've been struggling with this for awhile. Also sending forms 12 hours before appointment is helpful too, easier way to screen clients for covid.

Has this been fixed? Just want clients to sign a contract ONE time when they first book with us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your interest in this feature @HandsomeMuscle I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers with similar interest in your request.
Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature will help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).

I was really looking forward to enabling contracts but I see the same issue as has been reported above, with clients receiving the contract every time they book. That would be a poor customer experience. There really needs to be a one-time per customer contract setting.
It would also be desirable to be able to enable/disable contracts on a per service basis (the ability to link certain contracts to certain services). If this were the case I could even get around the issue described above because I have a New Client service and an Existing Client service, and could link my contract to the New Client service only.

Welcome to the Community, @wiseflower -
Completely understand and thank you for adding your voice to the Feature Request.
It gives our Product Team a good idea on how many sellers would like to see this feature evolve to help improve their business.
I am happy to tag this for them to take a look.

I'm just adding a request here myself, with the hope that it can be addressed sooner than later. It would be even more helpful if the feature can be used as pop up to sign before they pay for their deposit/service. As opposed to being sent after the fact and running the risk of having to issue a refund should they decline.

I'd like to add my voice in agreement for a pop up before payment AND only sending contract once. It would be even More awesome if there could be a second option to have a brief or "mini" contract that is send confirming acceptance of appointment or "yes I understand my original agreements for participation remains in effect." I used Simplero for a while which was an elaborate and awesome system. One thing they had - allowed this addendum for follow up appointments- which was targeting- prepaid series of appointments, and allowed for client to provide information- such as emergency contact and/or location during session- which would be a total bonus for online service providers

I would like to add that I have been using square appointments for a year now and use the contract option as well. I have reported and requested this issue be resolved and all I get is lip service. My clients are annoyed that a contract they have already signed is repeatedly sent and reminders sent monthly and bi monthly. Stop telling us this isn't a feature to turn off. I am looking into other booking software that isn't lip service and annoying.

Any update on this issue? Seems like a very simple fix & other softwares like Vagaro already offer it. I hope they resolve this soon. It really is enough make me switch to vagaro.

In the meantime, is it possible to manually send these contracts so clients aren't receiving them automatically every time they book? Adds a whole lot more work but I already know my clients will be super annoyed by this.
