LS2208 Barcode scanner not working with Android 12

Hey there -

 

We're a store and will be running an off-site location this weekend.  We were planning on running square from a Samsung running Android 12.  We plug in the LS2208 via USB-C into the phone and Square doesn't recognize the scanner.  

 

I saw other threads where it said the scanner only works with Android 9 and earlier.  Is this truly the case?!  

 

If so, is there another solution so we can use a scanner for the event?  We are expecting to do hundreds of transactions and it can't all be through searching products.

Well, after more searching, I figured out the issue.

 

The scanner that Square has first and foremost on their site to purchase is ONLY compatible with Android 9 and previous.  You have to drill down to find that information.  On the landing page for the scanner it says: Only compatible with Square Stand, Square Register, Square Terminal and Android devices

 

As a former content strategist that worked with companies larger than Square, this irks me and is a TERRIBLE way to relay information.

 

I finally found the page that lists all scanners and their compatibility with android devices.  It looks like this is a newer page for them.  https://squareup.com/us/en/compatibility/accessories/barcode-scanners

 

Here's hoping that the one we ordered to arrive on Friday will actually work.
