@jbrummer At this time you do need to link a bank account to Square Payroll to run payroll and pay your employees. (You can pay your subscription to Square Payroll with a credit card.)

With Square Payroll you have the option to pay your employees via direct deposit or manual check - but not credit card. Sorry about that. I went ahead and merged your post with a similar question and answer.
