In person terminal payments for invoices

Hi. I’m new to square and evaluating it for our business flow. We want to use virtual terminal on a Mac and then charge in person on a square terminal device. We generate invoices for physical mailbox renters. We want to give the option to add a payment to invoices via the square terminal in our store and not just manually entering the card number for the invoice. I can’t get the terminal reader to show up as an option to apply payment to an invoice. I can charge via virtual terminal like normal, but then I’d have to go find invoice and manually indicate it has been paid via pos. Is it not possible to use terminal device to directly fulfill an invoice in person?  Thanks 

This product update thread says you can swipe, dip, etc in person for invoice, but I can’t figure out how to do this directly on an invoice that someone wants pay in person.

Thank you for reaching out, I am happy to assist. I just want to confirm you using the Virtual Terminal and then sending it over to the Square Terminal. On the Square Terminal, you want the ability for the customer to pay with the invoice. So with this integration setup, you will not be able to pay for the invoice on the Square Terminal. If you chose to disconnect the connection between Virtual Terminal and Terminal then yes you could pay using an invoice on the Square Terminal. I hope that provided some clarification!
