If you use Square: a Square Reader, on your website, as a virtual terminal, and do invoicing, do you have to have another Payment Gateway & Merchant Account, or does Square act as your Payment Gateway and Merchant Account?

You don't need to have another. Square does it all. The only reason you would need another payment gateway is because your website you are using will not connect to Square, self-service equipment you are using requires a special gateway.

Thank you for your reply. I do my website through Quickbizsites.com and they do integrate with Square. I just found this out recently. I do have a Merchant Account with Cayan, and an account with Authorize.net for my gateway. They both charge monthly fees and the Merchant account charges and annual fee.
I am soooo trying to get rid of some fees that are eating my lunch.
The main reason that I had these accounts is that I have wholesale customers that I charge their cards, BUT would invoicing through Square be an option for me and my wholesale customers?

How are you charging them now? Invoices, terminal, online could all be options for you.

Right now I get their card info and when I get ready to ship their candle orders I go to my account with Authorize.net and charge their cards.

If you have a e-commerce website I would just have them pay through that? If you don't have an online store I would use Squares online offer. (scroll to the bottom of the page and click the White "Get Started" button. If these are in person sales you can use the Square point of sale app and if they are phone orders I would use Square invoices. You don't need anything else.

Hey @ecolightcandles, wanted to check in here and see if we can help with anything. It sounds like that's referring to the use of a payment service other than Square. Please let us know if you're looking to integrate any specific payment option or if you have any other questions. 🙂

Hi! I'm needing help with my square up website and integrating the square account my client already has. When I select overview and go to check out, it says active for square. I'm not convinced that I "linked" the square account and the "weebly"website partnering with square makes it look like its my clients account. Can you explain this to me?

Hey @coyotecabins,
Thanks for writing in and welcome to the Square Community 👋
Just to clarify, are you trying to connect your Square account to your client's Weebly site, or to a Square Online site?
A Square Online site is automatically connected to the Square account it's created under, so you wouldn't be able to link your client's Square online site to your Square account.
If your client has a Weebly account, follow these steps to connect Square as a payment gateway:
- Log in to your Weebly dashboard.
- At the top of your screen, click the tab that says “Store”.
- On the left side, you’ll see a menu. Select “Setup” (at the bottom of the list) and then select “Checkout”.
- Find Square and select “Connect”.
- Log in with your Square username and password. Click “Allow” on the permissions page, allowing Square and Weebly to connect to each other.
Please let us know how you go!
