How to set a percentage discount in Square Online

Hi guys.

I have been at this for two hours at least and still not able to have a sale in my online shop.

I just want to apply a 10% discount to all items and I want it to show the item prices marked down by 10% as well as the sale badge on each item.

I've tried to have an online chat with an advisor but apparently its unavailable to me.

Can someone please save my sanity and tell me how to do this?

Thanks,

Indy

Hiya! It was on my to do list to update this thread. I finally got through to a support person and they were brilliant.

Because I could see no obvious 'sale' function and I couldn't find anything in the help notes, it appeared to me that setting up a discount was the only option. This was wrong!! The support guys took me through the steps to setting up my sale. These are the steps:

In the Online Dashboard, select Items from the menu, then select Site Items from the drop down list.

Select all your items using the check box at the top left of your item inventory, or, if you only want certain items on sale then select those specific items using their individual check boxes.

Tap the Bulk Edit button on the top right hand side of the item inventory, then select Update Sale Price from the drop down menu.

Tap the Apply Sale Price option and then tap Set a Sale Price.

Choose the Set by Percentage option from the drop down menu and then in the percentage box type 10 or whatever percentage off you wish to offer.

Lastly tap the blue Apply button and your sale will be set and applied! 😁👍

Thank you Breffni for replying 😊 and I hope this info helps someone else who is wanting to have a sale. 💜

We have a 10% auto discount, applied to the appropriate categories or item collection. We schedule this automatically so when we hit the New Year sales off it goes while we are holidaying.

My problem is that even though my sale is now active, the prices in my online shop, are still marked up at full price. The discount only shows when the customer looks in the shopping cart. I want the individual item prices in my shop to be marked down so that the customer can see the 10% off sale price straight away, just like you would normally see in any online shop having a sale.

Hi @-Serendipity- - sorry to hear you're having some trouble!

The sales tag indicator is enabled with Item Preferences here - from there, you need to make sure each item has a regular price and a sale price within each individual item setting.

Can you let me know if this works for you? If not can you share a link to your site here so I can take a closer look - thanks.

Hi, I've applied a discount to a product however it doesn't apply the discount to the modifiers, only the base product, isn't there a way to apply it to the entire price including modifiers, not just the base product ? i don't want to create a discount code etc as i did this previously and not every customer will pay attention to a discount prompted by a pop up or one which is only on the homepage. i need the products in my sale section showing half price.

Hi @MUDE, thanks for your post.

With discounts, item modifiers are included in the amount discounted.

Can you tell me a bit more about the discount you have created and also share a link to your site?
