Here is some help.

Once you click the link, click update Taxpayer Information. A new window will pop up for you to enter your taxpayer information. Inside that box in the upper right hand corner is a field to change/add you SSN or EIN.

This does NOT change your EIN on other aspects, such as payroll, for your account. Please contact Square to make necessary changes.

The link I provided brings you straight to the page where you can add or edit your tax number and business name and address.

Hey @GS48010 - Yup, an Employer Identification Number (EIN) is  a federal tax identification number used to identify a business entity. For more information on how to confirm your EIN is linked to your account, check out our article on 1099-K Tax Reporting.

when you click edit it pops up another dialog box.  it will say EIN on file but you can still type in that field with your updated one.

I am trying to set Square up to accept school payments.  It will obviously be non profit.  How can I do this by entering Tax ID number instead of social security number

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: Change Social Security to Business Tax ID

I initally signed up using the last 4 digits of my social secuirty number, but I want to change it out with my business tax id number, how do I do this or does it even matter at this point? I'd rather not have my personal SS number attached to the square account and have the business id number instead.

I set up a square account for a church organization that is non profit.  I didn't have the EIN number at the time.  How do I add it now?  I tried tax forms form but seems disabled.  Any guidance would be helpful.

I would like to add my non profit EIN number to my account. How do I do that?

Hi @123159 You can change the taxpayer ID on file by going to Account & Settings -> Tax Forms.  However, be aware that once you change this, all sales and such will be changed to report to the IRS, etc, under that non-profit EIN.

Regards,

Chip

I had to sign up with the last 4 digits of my SSN.  I have since linked payments to my company checking account but I cannot find a place in which to give the EIN number.  I do not want transactions being attributed to me personally. Where can I go for help with this?
