How do you open the cash drawer outside of a sale?  Is

There a no sale button?

Easiest:

Make sure there is no charged items in the register, and should have a "no sale" on the upper right of the screen. Just hit the charge button and confirm the "$0.00". The cash register will open and the activity will show up as a no sale.

Other option:

Settings>> Cash Drawer>> Test. no activity will show but more buttons to push

While I understand the problem with the no sale button, a dishonest employee doesn't need a "no sale" button to steal cash.  They have the ability to manipulate or steal from every single cash transaction.   just a common example from any business is running a sale and giving the customer a total of say $19.99 getting the customer's $20 and asking if they need a receipt and if they say no they can just remove all the items from the transaction and nothing will be sold and the money they took won't be missing cause it isn't from a transaction the occurred.  Criminals don't need "no sale" buttons.  It just comes down to training, monitoring, and trusting.
