How do I get the customer's name to show up in the transaction list?

I have set up customers and saved their card numbers, but when I look back at my transactions, it is not showing the customer name.  How do I get the name to show up in the transaction list?

If you go into the invoice at the there should be an option to edit and then an add customer option.

I too would like to see the customers name in the transaction list.  Seems like a very easy link could be made.  Even if it requires selecting the transaction to see that detail.  The transaction list seems like a road to nowhere, dead end.  There is no reason for the customer data to not be available from that list.

@SJMS luckily we already have this feature! 🙂

When you're on your Square Dashboard head to the Transactions tab. When you click on a credit or debit card transaction you'll see a pop-up on the right side of your screen. This will have the details of the transaction and at the bottom you'll find the customers name in parenthesis.

If you need help finding it please feel free to @ mention me or send me a private message.

Thanks!  I found it on my desktop, but not available on the app or the Square Terminal, correct? @Chad

That's correct @SJMS. Currently this information is only available on the Square Dashboard.

Hey @surfside59 - To confirm, did you link or create a customer profile while processing these transactions? If you did and they're still not being linked to a customer, I would give our CS team a call and they'll be able to view the transactions to see what went wrong here.

I have the same problem, where you able to find the customer's name?

Please see @Chad's first reply above.  If you linked the customer's name to the sale when you processed it, it will appear on the transaction detail.  It actually appears at the top of the "receipt" and again at the bottom, if the sale was processed as a charge/debit, although then it's actually the name of the owner of the card.  If you didn't capture the customer's name at the time of the sale, you will not be able to find the customer's name once the sale is finalized.

I have a no-cost option on one of my items (it's the zoom version of a meeting), but because there's no credit card charge involved, the customer's name doesn't appear in the item detail. I know it was collected, because her name does appear on the online orders list. This really needs to be fixed. Before the website update, I used be able to search the orders list using the item name, but that doesn't work anymore. I hate the update!
