How do I connect my Square terminal to my iPhone 7 Plus in a building with no Wi-Fi?

Hello @Me157 !

Since the terminal doesn't have a cellular connection built in, you'll have to set up a cellular hotspot on your phone.

First, confirm with your carrier that you have the hotspot capability on your plan. Some plans don't.

If you do, head to your iOS settings -> Personal Hotspot. Enable "Allow Others to Join" and make the WiFi password something unique but easily typed on that small terminal keyboard. While you're in the settings app, go to General -> About and remember the name of your phone.

Now, go over to your terminal, More -> Settings -> Hardware -> Network. Your phone name should show on this list of WiFi networks. Tap that, enter your password, and you should be good to go. On your phone, you'll see a little blue oval in the upper left. That's iOS's signal that someone is connected to your phone.

One thing I recommend: put your terminal on a wifi network the night before you need it connected to your phone. If a software update happens while you're connected via hotspot, you'll probably max out the data limit on your phone. That got me once. UGH.
