Has anyone set up a Referral Program for their clients?

Has anyone been able to intergrate a referral program or app on to thier register? 

 

We are a small clothing boutique and alot of my VIP clients have been a huge marketing support system. They tell thier friends and then thier friends tell friends....and so on. I would love to keep track and reward them with some sort of discount/store credit. So far Ive been trying to keep track on my own but I would love an app/program that I can use with Square or even just on the iPad/Register?

@RTB - Great question, and I don't blame you for wanted to automate this task. While we don't currently offer any official way for tracking this, hopefully someone in the community can offer up some suggestions!

You could send them a marketing campaign with a auto generated code to their email to show/use on a future purchase.

 

How are you currently using Square?  Are you using a Terminal, Website, Invoice?

While we don’t offer a client referral program to do what you are looking for, you may want to consider creating a marketing campaign providing your customer with a discount code as mentioned by @cinderjack . However, the customer will need to contact you directly to let you know they have referred a friend, you can then provide them with the code for future purchases. You may also benefit from using our Square Loyalty program.

Hi Sayra - I'm not asking for a referral program specifically - although that would be nice. I just want to basically put some money in a client's account for the next time they come in so that 1) they don't have to keep track of a gift code and 2) I don't have to remember that they have a discount. Just when they refer someone, I can go into square and ring them up for, in essence, a pre-payment on a service. So the client is sitting there with a positive balance of $20.

@cinderjack - Thanks for clarifying how you would like to use Square. In this case, Square does not have the ability to store money in an account to come back and use it as you would like. At this time, this is a feature request.

I also Have a referral program at my lil biz and I need an easy or better way to track it. Punch cards are not reliable. People lose them then get angry when I don't know the info from the punch card that they lost. We need something like when a customer says "Jane Doe Referred me" and I can click something that will tally Jane's referrals in her listing in customer contacts. And I can easily log it and then look it up when when Jane asks "How many referrals have I collected" And I can look at her contact info and say "Jane, you have blah blah referral credits" or points or whatever.

Let's Do this! We all need it! I mean look, square has several of them already implemented for themselves so it will be super easy to add this. It doesn't even need to be an app. It should be part of the system in the customer contacts for FREE.  A little number counter that says Referral rewards.

I find it soooo hard to believe that in nearly 5 years since this inquiry was opened, that Square still has not come up with a Referral program for dedicated small businesses, like myself, that want to provide referral points to their customers.  If you are able to do it for yourselves when we refer someone to you, why can't you in turn offer this feature to us?

One thing I can mention based on my personal experience is that I have seen several Sellers use Square Loyalty as a referral program. The way they do it is that once that referral comes in they manually add points to the person that referred the new customer and that way they can get rewards set up by you to get discounts or free goods (up to you on what to offer). 

 

I hope this makes sense and I will still pass your valuable feedback to our product team @tattoodayna.

I'm sure glad Square now has a referral program for US to help THEM sell more Square units... but after 4+ years of feedback I see here, still doesn't have a client referral program for us to actually use. Irony not lost.

I agree, this seems to be a big issue and honestly a determination of whether or not businesses will continue using your product/service. There seems to be no way to track new clients with a physical marker on appointments or a way to automate referrals. The work around using the loyalty program takes time away from more important business tasks. Reoccurring custom reports to be emailed daily would be beneficial as well. It seems your competitors offer these simple program features...can we get this created already for YOUR loyal customers?

seems like there is an APP that integrates with Square called Ice cream social... but yeah square should do the referrals internally instead of using a 3rd party

Word of mouth is such a powerful and underrated mode of communication. Please escalate the referral program feature to as high priority as you can. Inflation is rising and the holidays are quickly approaching. We could ALL use the benefits of this feature tremendously. Thank you.
