HOW TO DEDUCT VAT FROM PRODUCT PRICE FOR INTERNATIONAL SALES

Hi,

I am selling an item both in the UK and in Japan, and am able to accept orders from both countries.

While UK orders are subject to VAT (20%), orders from Japan are exempt and I want to deduct this from the product price but cannot.

I can change the product price setting to exclude VAT so the appropriate VAT gets added on at checkout depending on where they are ordering from but this is a problem for UK customers as then the product price has odd decimals and is annoying for UK customers to see the increase in price at checkout (It's norm in the UK to always have VAT included in price)

Is there are way to set the price to be VAT inclusive and the VAT gets deducted for international orders at checkout?

So e.g for a product of 120 pounds,

for local orders the price at checkout is 120 (as shown on my store, and includes 20% VAT), and for international orders, price at checkout gets reduced to 100.

at the moment I can only set it to show VAT for international as 0% but the actual monetary value of 20 does not get deducted from the checkout price.

(Local price: 120 @20% VAT, international price: 120 @ 0% VAT) < - which is wrong

Hey @emily10, welcome to the Seller Community! Happy to have you here with us. 

Sounds like you may need to alter your settings on your Square Online Overview page so that your taxes are included in the item prices. To do so, please follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to Square Online Overview page > Settings or Shared Setting > Sales Taxes.
2. Under order level tax settings, tick the box beside Taxes are included in item prices.

This should then include the taxes in the overall price without changing it, rather than adding the tax on top of the original price.
