Find transactions by item type? Or taking orders at the register?

Most of our pre-order items are done online through checkout links and show up as orders that I can export. But sometimes people want to walk into our store and place their pre-order. I can ring the item at the register, but how to find those sales later to fulfill the order? Should I be ringing the sale a different way to have it show up as an order?

For In-Store Sales, I suggest you either include the word Pre-Order on the item name or create a separate item named Pre-Order with no price and add it to the sale. This way you will be able to search by the item name and locate all transactions containing it.
