Feature Request: Customer account creation for quicker Online Store checkout

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Online Store Customer Checkout

 

Does the square online store give the option to store customer details for quick checkout?

It doesn't seem to, but maybe we are missing something?

While there is no full account creation right now, customers do have the option to save their payment information through Square as a sort of card on file, which is verified through a Two Factor Authentication code texted to the customer's phone number.

 

It is a little confusing because it doesn't give the customer any sort of confirmation that their information has been saved or anything, but it definitely has worked and it's all done in the background.

 

There's also use Apple Pay and Google Pay available as payment options!

 

All of these definitely speed up checkout a bit, but yes, hopefully a complete account creation option will come soon!

Hi there @wiltshire - you're not missing anything here!

 

There isn't currently a way to allow your customers to create an account in order to save their information for quicker checkout through your Square Online Store. I can appreciate how useful this feature would be, and I've gone ahead and bubbled your suggestion up to our Online Store team. 

 

Lots of features are underway or already being implemented for the Online Store at this time - if we hear anything we're able to share, we'll be sure to post an update here. I'd recommend staying subscribed to this thread to receive a notification when that happens.

I would really love a feature like this for my clients. They constantly DM me asking for their tracking code or what product they previously ordered. This alone has me contemplating using a different platform as it is time consuming to answer client questions on simple things such as what they ordered in the past.

I too have had requests for customer accounts on my website.  It helps them to see what products they have already ordered.

The online store won’t let them save information. They check the box that says save information for faster checkout, but they never get a confirmation email or anything and it makes them fill everything out again the next time. It’s like it blanks that check box and only places the order. 

Is it working for anyone else?

Then when click complete order it just goes blank.

Thanks for sharing those @TripleC. I ran this by our Weebly specialists and it seems there is an underlying issue if your customers aren't able to save their information on that page. They haven't come across any other scenarios of this happening, but it would be best if you could contact Weebly Support so that they can check out your account and file a ticket if necessary.

People are using our school's online store to pay tuition, so during check out, we need to ask the name of the student they are purchasing tuition for. Is there a way to add a request this information during the check-out process or when they add the tuition item to their cart?

When online customers opt in to "save my information for faster checkout", their information seems inaccessible via the admin backend. In fact, if customers choose this option, their credit card does not seem to be "on file" in their customer record within the Square admin; rather it is only "on file" within Square Online where there is no accessible customer record. Is this accurate?
