Here is how to redeem them:
https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6000-square-egift-cards#4fe5daf9d3185f8dc1f2288b44df46e1
you don't have to clear them, once they are used the value of the sale will be taken off them.

Also, I have never seen this option "Gift Card On File". Is there something in my settings that I need to change?

The directions given on website to redeem eCards on point of sale app does not help or bring me to where I need to enter the code my customers have to redeem.
Please help. Pictures would be a great bonus!
Thank you!

Hey @BKM! I moved your post over to this thread so you can take a look at the article that VanKalkerFarms shared above. It walks you through step by step on how to redeem an eGift card on the POS.
To get even more specific though:
To charge an eGift Card using the redemption code:
- Add items to the sale, or enter a custom amount.
- Tap Charge > Gift Cards.
- Enter the 16-digit redemption code > tap Charge to select a payment card for the transaction.
- Complete the payment flow.
To charge an eGift Card on file:
- Add items to the sale, or enter a custom amount.
- Tap Charge > Credit and Gift Cards on File.
- Select a customer with a gift card on file or search by email or phone number > tap Charge to select a payment card for the transaction.
- Complete the payment flow.
Let me know if you have other questions!

I have run into this a number of times and have yet to find an answer on here...
I occasionally have clients that can't find the email receipt of the egift card, but I know one was purchased for them. When I look up the egift card on the dashboard, I only can see four digits, yet when taking payment, I need more digits....how do I get those digits?
Thanks a ton for any help!

Hello @tmackerman- Check this thread out. If a customer doesn't have their egift card handy, you can search your directory by the customer's email or phone number, as their egift card will be saved to their profile.
Hope this helps you out!

I seldom get ecard transactions so when I do get them I take a lot of time to remember how to input them at checkout. Is there a step by step guide for this somewhere?

We have the same question. We use Square as a payment provider only and customers have purchased gift cards and cannot redeem them! Causing major issues for us. Hope we get an answer soon!

Us too. We added it but when customers go to use it - it won't let them use it and a message appears that says your total must equal the same value or less of what is on the GC. And you cannot split the payment between the GC and then pay balance with CC.
Very strange!

My gift cards are set up and able to purchase through my online store, but there is not an option to pay with a gift card at checkout. How do I set that up? I have tried with all buttons toggled and without.
