Hello,

We are running Nail Salon and would like to sell eGift Cards on our website. We've setup and been testing it a day now. And I couldn't find the options where to adjust the balance for eGift Card.

For instance, John buys eGift Card to Jen the amount of $50. Jen comes to our salon and get her nails done that costs only $40 dollars, which Jen would have remaining balance of $10.

The only option I see was the "Clear Balance" which doesn't make sense because they would lost $10!!!  So where can I adjust the balance of $10 remain on her eGift Card for future use?

Regards,

Kim

Hey @HerkimerNails

Instead of adjusting the balance, you would ring up the sale as usual but charge the gift card. That would change the balance on the gift card.

On your POS device, go into settings, checkout, payment methods and make sure Manual Gift Card and/or Card on File are enabled, this way you can either type in their full egift card number, or look it up by their phone number or email.

Thank you for your help.  I will use Virtual Terminal to charge the eGift Card. We have other credit card processor in place.  We only use Squareup for Appointment and eGift Card. We don't own any hardware from Squareup that's why the questions were brought up.

Thanks for you help; please close the this topic.

You should have the Egift card number when they redeem the service.  You would type in the number at checkout and it will clear the balance.

How do I see the full Egift card number on the app? My customer just gets an email with the last 4 digits.  I can see proof of purchase, but it only shows me the last 4 digits ?

Whoever the egift card was sent to will have an email with the full 16 digits.

If that person cannot access the email or if the email address was entered incorrectly, you can click the link for the egift card in the transaction and a pop-up will open allowing you to resend it to another email address.

I have tried to use the video method but there is NOT AN OPTION to enter the gift card number on my POS after I use the charge button. I have no way to enter the number at all. How can I enable the button to allow me to enter the number from the egift card???

Recently set up E-gift cards on my website, and I had a client purchase one. Client came in received service pays with gift card. Entered manually 16 digit code says declined, scanned barcode shows invalid box. Used iPad and mobile device. Updated devices, turned on and off, tried multiple time for 4 days in a row. Called support, no help. Did a test run with my down card and entered the 16 code and it worked so why is it not accepting my clients gift card? Please help.

Are you able to see the transaction that shows your client's purchase of the e-gift card?  If you click that transaction, you will see that it shows the last four digits of the e-gift card.  Does that match the number your client is giving you?

You can also click it and view receipt as well as email address that is went to.

Make sure the number she is giving matches.

Hi there, @Madsmath - Sorry to hear that you're having some trouble with your e-gift cards 😔

I went ahead and merged your post to an existing thread where other Square Sellers have discussed this as well. We merge duplicate conversations together to keep like comments in one place, and to make it easier for others to find the thread in the future.

I suggest reviewing the steps to redeem the cards, provided in the Best Answeron this thread from @VanKalkerFarms. You can also search for the individual cards within your database by following these steps.

I hope this information is helpful. Let us know how it goes!
