Does online store inventory sync with Item Library inventory in my Dashboard?

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Does my online store's inventory sync with my brick n mortor store?

 

Does my online store's inventory sync with my brick n mortor store?  We use square for our real farm market AND for curbside pickup from the online ordering platform.  

For the people who order online, I see that I can choose how much inventory I put in and make it live.

My concern is that when someone calls me on the phone (not using the online ordering platform) to make an order, and I run it through my real store's cash register... is it showing as less items in the online store? 

I don't want to short the people who order online.

So... does a purchase through my square cash register automatically effect availability through the online store... OR do I have to log in, locate the item, and re do the amount in inventory?

Hi there @ProvidenceFarm, we should be able to provide some clarity here!

 

Any edits - including increases and decreases - to items on the Online Store side will reflect on the POS side (and vice versa), as long as you've turned on Square Sync in your Online Store settings. 

 

If you'd like your Online Store inventory to be completely separated from your brick-and-mortar inventory, I'd recommend creating a second location. You can use the second location to process sales for your brick-and-mortar presence, while keeping the original location for your Online Store and curbside pickup sales. Thanks for responsing... so... Im confused... i thought I bought the square POS system but im being told that its square register.  Whats the difference?  And can the "square register" sync with my wix or the weekly website.

@IAmSheBoutique Square POS is the software. Like Square for Retail and Square for Restaurants. The Square Register is the hardware. It is the all in one big black system while the Square Stand is the white smaller system that requires an Ipad. But yes, both hardware would work with almost all their software.

Hello - I had found an earlier thread addressing this but can't seem to find it now ad want to chime in so I'm starting here. I own a bakery and we recently switched to Square after many many years with another POS system. It has mostly been a great switch and works really well for us. We have added online ordering to our in person business due to the current state of COVID affairs. This too works well with the EXCEPTION of being able to manage/see inventory at the POS system i.e. seeing when something sells out online or in person. This is a huge issue as we are really busy and when we get low on certain things it takes a level of oversight that is difficult to manage in the moment. Is there any chance that there will be a way to fix/change this, I have to imagine there are quite a few businesses in the same boat. Or is there a work around anyone has discovered that might help?

I moved your post to the thread you might of been referencing here in terms of inventory on the Online Store also being on the POS.

 

We also just launched Order Management for iOS devices today as well to manage orders on the POS itself.

this was not the thread I was thinking of. Having to set up 2 locations and manage 2 inventories would be a major headache. In the mean time it would be really great if this could be a feature - if it continues to be the headache it is we may need to find another solution.

adding again all we need is simple notification at the POS for our walk up business when items are sold out or getting low in the inventory we are selling out of at both the walk up (POS) and the online store. Thanks!

I am entering my retail in my item library and then I go to my website store and it doesn't say the same. I want to sell my retail on my website ,but I want my stock to show the same

Hi @Stephanieg - Inventory syncs between  the POS and the Online store automatically in the background. 

 

Do you have inventory tracking turned on in Square Dashboard (click the item to edit and click Stock tracking)

I had someone help me set up my Online Store a while ago - since then I've worked hard on updating items with pics and descriptions in my POS. They are not synced so a lot of descrepancies with the Online Store. 

 

I see now that I can sync between the POS and the Store, but I am afraid that the Online Store will override the items in POS and I will have to start from scratch. 

 

When you sync identical items in Online and POS, which takes precedence? Store or Online?

I currently have a Square online store, but would like it to be more detailed. If I build a website through Weebly, am I able to connect and track my Square inventory to the Weebly site or does it only connect the payment portion of Square? I don't want to have to track inventory in two places. If something sells in online or in my brick & mortar, I want the same inventory counts to be available online or in store.

As long as you have Square Sync turned on, your inventory will automatically decrease in your online Square Dashboard when customers buy items from your Square Online website, @thevintageflip.
