Does Square provide account or merchant ID numbers?

Hello, i just purchased my Square. I am also trying to get a sellers permit. the board of equalization is asking for my "merchant card processor name" and "merchant caed processor account".

Where can i find my "merchant card processor account".

Texas Comptroller has requested a Merchant ID.  I will try to use email address.  However, I need to set up another separate account for another business.  Do I have to use a different email address for the new account?

If you are looking to create a separate Square account, you will be required to use a different email address that isn't associated with any existing Square accounts.

Keep in mind that you are able to edit your Square account email address at any time from the online Square Dashboard.

My bank is asking me for the Card Acceptor ID for a special promotion they are running at my store. I have emailed this question and not received a response. Does anybody know how to obtain my Card Acceptor ID? It's a 15 digit number and possibly different for VISA and MasterCard. Thank you!

Hello @ShorelineCredit! I've moved your post here so you Kelly's Best Answer, Square doesn't provide account numbers for merchants. Perhaps your bank could use your account email address instead?

It's something different than merchant ID. It's a unique code that is transmitted through MC/VISA to uniquely identify the terminal. IE wal Mart has one Merchant ID but each store (or department or terminal) has a unique Card Acceptor ID.

Thanks for clarifying that @ShorelineCredit! I looked into this for you a bit more and I'm afraid we don't have a card acceptor IDs either. I recommend asking your bank if there's another way they can set up this promotion.

Where/how can I find square's authorization or settlement MIDs on a square account? Our Processor is requesting the CC Merchant ID Number for our square account for each of our locations. I know that square has 12 -15 digit authorization MIDs, but where are they?

In Texas to register to pay our taxes we are reqired to provide a merchant identification number which is normally supplied (according to them) by your online payment processor. Are you familiar with online businesses in Texas? Is there a simple way around this I'm just not seeing? I'm just trying to make sure I don't end up not being able to pay my taxes because I use square. I really appreciate your help.

@Ketoniafoods I just moved your post to this thread so you can read Kelly's suggestion and try using your email address. Or some other sellers have had success entering 'Square' instead.

If you haven't already you might also consider contacting a tax professional or a local government agency to confirm you have everything set up correctly.

Square does not have account numbers, just your email address.  if you are trying to fill out forms that ask you can put your email address or put N/A.

To clarify- Square doesn't offer or have account numbers. I'd recommend consulting your tax professional to see what kind of number they're looking for here. Maybe a EIN/TIN?

I don't know about the OP, but I am looking for a "Merchant Card Processor Account" number. California Department of tax and fee administration requires one for getting a seller's permit for California if you are going to accept credit cards.

I thought Square looked like a good place to use to accept credit card payments, but I need an account number.

Thanks for writing in and sorry to hear you're having trouble with your merchant ID. As mentioned in the best answer, Square doesn't have individual account numbers. It might be worth reaching out directly to the administrator of the form you're completing to let them know you're using Square.
