Contactless + chip reader connects, and then disconnects within 3 seconds on Android Moto 4 phone

My contactless + chip reader disconnects within 3 seconds of a successful pairing. I uninstalled and re-installed app on phone, powered down and powered up phone, enabled bluetooth, charged reader. Got a successful pairing, then receive an error message that the reader has disconnected. REPEATEDLY. Cannot keep it paired long enough to insert card. I think my reader is probably just over warranty period. NOT HAPPY..... Didn't have any problems until now....

Sorry to hear about the trouble. 

 

That device is definitely listed as a compatible option with the Square Contactless and Chip Card Reader. 

 

The reader is disconnecting while the app is open in the middle of a sale? 

 

Have you tried connecting to any other device? How is your internet connection in the area that you're accepting payments? 

 

One thing you can try is a hard reset. Hold down the button on the front of the reader for at least 20 seconds. Once you release the button, you should see amber lights.
