How do I cancel a transaction? I charged a customer $6,000 instead of $600. I do not want to issue a refund because I will incur $400 in fees for a mistake.

You can issue a partial refund. Your fees for the transaction are reimbursed so don’t worry about that. If you cancel it there will be no way to recharge the customer

any fees incurded by the seller will be reimbursed to the seller and any return amount will be returned to the customer.
so if you did a 1,000 transaction and meant to to 100, do a return for $900 and all the fees from the 900 will be reimbursed to to you and the 900 to the customer.

Hi @Richomelb great question. Your customer will likely still see activity on their bank account as far as a pending transaction that will then likely show as a refund once settled. This will all depend on how fast the bank processes the payment/refund and how soon the refund posts.

If you are in the Square Terminal (and I suspect other apps) Click on Current Sale, tap the name and move the quantity to 0 then Save. If you only have 1 item, you may have a delete option come up, if so, click it. You can also tap the down arrow in the right hand corner and chose Clear Items.
Yep, just figured this out by sitting here clicking buttons on my terminal!

Hey @JennE
At this time the only way to cancel a transaction would be by refunding it.
