Can I see which customers are unsubscribing from my e-mails?

Hello,

 

I use the Square Marketing to send out emails and it tells me how many customers viewed my emails and also how many have unsubcribed. I would like to be able to see who unsubcribed so I do not send them any more emails? Is there a way to view these people?

Yes, to honor the CAN-SPAM Act, you can view which customers have unsubscribed from your email list so that you do not send them any more emails.

 

To view this list:

  1. Head over to your Customer Directory.
  2. Select Import/Export > Export Customers.
  3. Your Customers CSV will download.
  4. Open up the CSV and it will have a column named Email Unsubscribed which will show "yes" or "no." (Yes in that column would indicate that the customer unsubscribed from that Seller's campaigns)

I'd like to export our list and drop it into Mailchimp but when I export the list of customers, only two show up on the .csv file. Can you help me figure out what's going on? We have over 20K names and they're not showing up.

Has the system been changed since this was posted? My report doesn't have TRUE listed anywhere--there is a column that says Email Unsubscribed and it says Yes or No. 

 

Can I trust that the "Yes" listings have unsubscribed their emails? Is there another way to check that emails have been unsubscribed?

Hey!! Thanks for asking.

 

The "Yes/No" you are seeing is the current way unsubscribed buyers are shown (Yes in that column would indicate that the customer unsubscribed from that Seller's campaigns) There is not a way to see that information through the transaction list, only by exporting their customer directory and viewing the Unsubscribe column.

 

I believe the worry about your customer's information not being shown on the spreadsheet is in regards to instant profile customers. If a customer is not assigned to a sale, but there is cardholder information we capture from the card used, we will show the customer's name attached to the transaction, but that information will not be listed on the exported spreadsheet - similar to the emails of Instant Profile customers.
