The minimum transaction amount required to process a card payment with Square is £1.00 and that cannot be change at the moment.
You can enter transactions of under £1.00 for any payments processed as 'Cash' or 'Other payment types'.

Hello,
I would also like to petition square to lower the amount, we are a company who deal in lots of small cash transactions less than £1, especially with the growth in tap and pay and less cash in peoples pockets.

Can someone help me with this topic please? When I enter an amount less than £1 for a cash sale it still says "minimum value should be £1" - do I need to change a setting somewhere?

Hey @kragdale, unfortunately there isn't a way to change this. The minimum transaction amount required to process a card payment with Square is £1.00 and that cannot be change at the moment. Any transactions under £1.00 will need to be processed as 'Cash' or 'Other payment types'.

I understand but even when I select cash it says minimum £1 so cannot complete the sale

I haven't come across that before but if you can let me know the following details, I can definitely have a further look on my end here:
- Is this happening on the Virtual Terminal, the Square Point of Sale app, the Square Terminal or the Square Register?
- If it's happening on the app/Terminal/Register, please check there is no pending update for the Square app or for your device.
- If it's happening on the Virtual Terminal, please try clearing the cache on your browser or switching to a supported browser, such as Google Chrome.
If none of these steps help, would you mind sharing a screenshot of the error you're getting with me?

Thanks for letting me know @kragdale! As it's happening on the Virtual Terminal, would you mind sharing a screen of the exact error message you are getting with me?
In the meantime, we can try process payments under £1 by recording them on the Square Point of Sale app instead. You should be able to download the app to an iOS or Android mobile device. Let me know if the app will help!

As we only take payments by card with square, what is the point of telling us we can mark it as cash or other payment. We would NOT be getting any payment from the customer if we can't charge via square for small amounts!!
