Can I assign a pre-paid customer credit to a specific customer account in my database?

Can I assign a pre-paid customer credit to a specific customer account in my database?  I run a summer camp were the campers put their money in at the beginning of the week and slowly deduct from their pre-paid tab.

No, there isn't a way to do that using Square currently.  You could use Card on file but that wouldn't stop at a certain pre-determined dollar value.

No.  But you could accomplish this with gift cards: https://squareup.com/gift-cards

But there is a cost per gift card code, correct?

Square doesn't charge to activate or use the cards.  Only the standard credit card processing fee applies if someone uses a credit card to "load" the gift card.  If cash is used, there are zero fees.

However, the gift cards themselves are kinda expensive - about $1.50 per card.  There's only one place to get the cards: http://www.ecardsystems.com/square/?gclid=CLCfmLqKgdICFUSSfgodexACPA

Square obviously makes some money on these, but other companies often have fees associated with using the cards, which Square does not.

Is it possible to generate Gift Card codes without purchasing the actual cards?

Square

Not at the moment, @Wordna. Square Gift Card numbers are only provided on the physical card. You could provide the card number to your customer through other means and apply it without the card being present, however the setup would still require a physical card.

No, but keep in mind that you can reuse the cards.  You could have them make a $5 cash deposit on the physical card which they would get back when they return it?
