Auto Clock In/Out

Is it possible to have employees clocked in/out automatically?  Here is the scenario:

  1. Register is on the PIN screen
  2. Employee who is not clocked-in enters PIN to sign in to register - should be prompted to also clock in.

Conversely, pressing the Logout XX button in the top left corner should prompt user to clock out.

When I login using my PIN (Owner), it pops up and says that I am not clocked-in and asks if I want to clock-in or continue.  This is what I would like for all users.

Hey @chaiden66 and welcome to the Seller Community!

At this time, the ability to automatically clock an employee in/out when signing out is still a feature request as many Sellers ask their servers to sign out after every sale for security and tracking sales, however, it does make sense to have at least an option for this, like a toggle, so you can decide whether you want them clocked out at sign out.

As far as employees being prompted to clock in when using their passcode - it should also ask them if they would like to clock in and continue if they are not already clocked in. In the case described above, it may be possible that the employee forgot to clock out, but only signed out, and then essentially is already clocked in for the next day.

Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

I'm having an issue understanding the concept of the user sign-in vs. user clock in/out.

I understand that clock in/out would impact Timecards.  However, if a user Clocks-in, they end up on the Checkout screen.  They are not signed-in though.  In the top left is says Login instead of Logout XX.  In this state, the user can open/close drawer and make sales without being identified.

I am wondering if we need to do some glitchy app troubleshooting, as I just tested this on my device, and any time I logged into my employee role without clocking in first, I was prompted to "Clock in," or "Continue without clocking in," then, if I clocked out instead of logging out, I was also logged out of my employee role.

So, in theory, yes, it is possible to log in and NOT clock in, if the employee chooses "Continue without clocking in," but I would really encourage the employees to just pay attention to if their initials are in the corner of the Point of Sale screen when they are making sales, and to slow down because mistakes like these (clocking in without being logged in) only happen if they aren't looking at the details.

HI @AshleyK,

I think we do.  I get that same experience every time when I sign-in as my self (Owner role) and I like that, exactly what I want!  However that does not happen for any of my employees (Team Member role).  I confirmed they were not clocked-in already.

To really confuse this, I just tried now signing-in as myself and it let me right in without asking me to clock in or continue.  I am not clocked in.  Employees are the same.  This is different behavior from what I saw on Wednesday where it prompted me every time.

Thanks for letting me know. That is interesting behavior, and I think we need to have our Customer Success team take a look at the details of your account and do some account specific troubleshooting to narrow down what is going on, so I have sent a case over to them. You should hear back over email soon!

Regarding time cards, I am able to have the user prompted to clock-in when they log into the register using their 4 digit code.  I would love it if they would automatically be clocked-OUT when they log out of the register.  I assumed this was the functionality, but it isn't.  Am I missing something?

Thanks for helping.
