I have a healthcare business and need my customers receipts to have their name on them. For my customers to submit receipts to their health insurance companies their name must be on the receipt how can I add this?

Thanks for reaching out, @APHealth. At this time, we do not automatically include the customer's name on receipts though I can see how this would be helpful for your practice.
While I don't have a workaround available for this request right now, I will be sharing your post with our Receipts team. We're constantly working to improve our services based on seller feedback. Please don't hesitate to let us know if anything else comes up!

That's odd my customer's name is on mine, I just can't get the company name or address on the invoice or reciept.

When I am in my account on the computer, I go to Sales, then Transactions. I then see a list of the transactions for that week, month, whatnot. If I click on the individual transaction a window pops open that displays the transaction info with the payors first name and last inital. I assume their name appears because its the name on the credit card they used. When I do this same thing on my iphone app, I get less information and I do not get to see their name.
For transactions where I processed it as a check or cash, there is no name associated with the transaction. But for me, that is more rare, most are credit card payments.
For the transactions that do have a name already is there a way to view that information more easily? Like instead of clicking on each transaction for the window to appear, could there possibly be the option to view the name in the list of transactions? Even that would be helpful.
I do custom amonts for each sale. I was even thinking about adding their name in the point of sale "note" section; while accepting payments on my iphone. Maybe that would be the work around to visually see "their name" as the "item." Just not sure if that would cause other issues. Hmm.. Thoughts?

Thanks for bringing this up, @ics. I would suggest adding your customer to the payment at the time of the sale. For step-by-steps on how to do this, have a look at our Support Center: Add Customers and Payments to Your Directory from the Square App.
This will allow you to view which payments are associated with your customer from both your Transactions and Directory tabs regardless of payment type.
Hope this helps get you where you need to be — let us know if anything else comes up! 🙂

Looks like this has been an issue for several users of Square since early 2017, have you reseolved this issue yet? I want the customer to be able to place their own name on the order.

Hello @deninechang, we're still tracking this feature request! Currently we're still in the process of collecting feedback and we do not have a time line on when this feature might be implemented.
If you have any other questions please let me know!

As a registered charity, we also require the name and address of the customer on the receipt so that they may submit it to the tax office. I would also like to request this feature be made available. Thank You

I'm new to square and am shocked that this has been going on for years without a fix. So simple and REQUIRED by many as indicated in posts in this thread and others. How much information and feedback do you need to collect in order to implement this option.
I use saved customers with card on file almost exclusively. I am in healthcare and need the name on receipts, both for clients and for my own filing.
I am aware that I can add the name in the notes field, but this becomes very cumbersome since I run charges at the end of the day or week. Having to do that over and over is ridiculous. PLEASE!!

C'MON PEOPLE! How hard is it to listen to your customer base?
You need to add the customer name to the receipt. I'm receiving hundreds of ticket requests that will go into Will Call for pickup at the upcoming show. Having a cryptic code at the bottom instead of what it should be, the CUSTOMER NAME, is a pain in the patootie. **I have to print each receipt** and HAND WRITE the customer name, wasting paper and LOTS of time.
If I do it after the fact, I have to open EACH TICKET SALE SEPARATELY, and you don't even have a REPORT with the customer name. Sheeeesh!
Don't you want people to see you as *excellent* instead of....pretty crappy? You're vulnerable to someone coming in and doing it right--and poof! You're gone.

"...but we are at the mercy of the customer's credit card company. It is them, not us, who decides if the customer's name will print on the receipt."
Why then does the customer name not appear on any receipts? I would think it would, at least for the banks that allow it. That is, if you really do have the capability implemented.

Hi
Adding customer name to receipt would be an extremely useful feature for us too - a registered non-profit. The invoice method isn't that useful since we can't really 'invoice' for pledges. Being able to customize the receipt to include customer name (the customer name shows up on square POS end but the customer/donor's email does not have the name) as well as being able to change 'invoice' to a 'pledge reminder' would be very useful for non-profit organizations.
Please consider adding features to make square POS more non-profit friendly.
Thanks

Is there any hope for this feature in this century ?
Every printed receipt I get (restaurants, grocer stores, gas station etc) have my name printed (Credit card user's name) and show the last 4 digits of the CC number too.
All we are asking is to add the customer's name from the Square database to be included in the receipt.
This has nothing to do with credit cards - because even customers paying by cash or check don't see their name on the receipt. The argument that this is a cc company issue doesn't hold.
Issuing an invoice just to get the customer's name is not making the process easy. If Square wants to make billing and invoicing easy, you need to do much better than not listening to customer requests for over 2 years!!!

Hi! I'm a new user to square and I'm looking for the same feature. I need my clients to have a receipt that shows who made the purchase for insurance purposes. This is SO simple and isn't included yet?? I shouldn't have to go to another external provider to offer them the receipt they need. It's still not even available as a PDF!

So this is a question that many people have asked before me. Why doesn't the customer's name show up in the text/email receipt when i add their name into sale from the directory? Its a basic feature that should have been originally there in the app. I cant believe they still haven't added it after numerous requests from other square users. I don't want to manually add customers name through notes every time. Square team please don't reply with a pre-scripted copy/paste answer this time. Looking for proper solution.

Hey there and thanks for your post! I hear the frustration and I understand. Sometimes it feels like forever before feature requests are released.
I have merged your post with an existing thread that is also requesting this feature for better tracking, and rest assured we do track these requests. While the feature isn't currently released, you are able to track your customer sales through the customer directory after tagging them. I know this may not be close to what you are looking for, but it is an alternative to hopefully help you out.

@Likecureslike I'm having the same issue. Thanks for the tip about using the notes... at least that's better than going to another system for it.
@AshleyK In the case of 3 years for this issue, it doesn't just *feel* like forever.. that actually IS forever. Or at least an unreasonable amount of time for a simple feature.

Since COVID, we have been hand keying more credit cards. There was update Tuesday, where a tax box has been added, now the note section no longer prints on the receipt. I have used this feature to have my customers name appear on the receipt. Can we get this fixed?

To my knowledge, the notes feature hasn't been removed. Can you try reinstalling the app and making sure your device OS is up to date?

Select take a payment, enter all the information, click charge, it then gives choices, we pick print receipt, a new window with the receipt pops up and we print from there. I went through our transactions on Tues June 23, and the note appears in the line of the transaction fine, but some where about 3:00 pm, when you click on the transaction line to open it, the note disappears off the details of the receipt. The note shows on my transaction at 2:54 pm , but is gone at 3:23 pm.
From my 2:54 transaction
