This article was updated in 2019 to refect updates to Team Management.
I am happy to share our newest Team Management feature, Labor vs Sales reporting.
Labor is one of the largest costs to your business, our newest reports will help you better understand your real time labor costs so you can make informed staffing and scheduling decisions for your business.
If you are an active Team Management subscriber, this report will automatically start populating information based on your daily sales and your employee timecards. To compare your cost of labor with your sales:
- Visit Reports in your online Square Dashboard.
- Filter your report by day, week, month, employee or location.
- Export if desired.
Keep in mind – labor reporting does not backfill previous timecards so it will take a few days of employees clocking in/out to populate the reporting with labor data. Sales data populates on its own. Before your Labor cost report will start to populate, you will need to make sure that you employees all have wages assigned to them and have the ability to clock in/out through your Square Register App. To add a wage to each employee:
- Visit Teams in your online Square Dashboard.
- Click the employee you would like to edit.
- Enter the employee’s hourly wage
- Click Save.
Once you’ve set up wages, you’ll need to enable your employees to clock in/out:
- Open the Square App and sign in with your email or a device code. If you sign in using a device code, be sure to enter your passcode with permissions to manage settings.
- Tap the three horizontal lines on the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Settings > Team Management.
- Tap Team Management to enable.
- Enter your passcode to save these changes.
- Select a preferred time-out period for the Square app.
- Tap your initials on the bottom right to allow your employee to log in and begin accepting payments.
