We’re rolling out some important changes to the Customer Directory and Square Marketing.
Here’s an overview of the changes we’re making:
- Reachable Customers has a new name: Marketing Subscribers. You’ll see this in your Customer Directory and in Square Marketing. We are also creating a new filter called Marketing Subscriber.
- We’ve added two new Smart Groups in the Customer Directory.
- We're making improvements to the Customer Directory.
These changes will make it easier to see which customers are subscribed to receive marketing campaigns from you. You will also be able to view a breakdown of subscribed customers by campaign type - Email or Text. Finally, you’ll be able to build advanced marketing audiences from your Customer Directory to connect with your customers and promote your business.
Read on for more information about these changes.
Reachable Customers is now called Marketing Subscribers
In your Customer Directory, Reachable Customers has a new name: Marketing Subscribers. You’ll see this in your Customer Directory and when you build a campaign with Square Marketing.
You will also be able to combine the new Marketing Subscriber filter with other filters in Directory to build an advanced marketing audience on the fly.
New Smart Groups
We’re replacing the Reachable Smart Group with two new groups: Email Subscribers and Text Subscribers to filter customers by campaign type. You can also use the new filter Marketing Subscriber with other filters in Directory to build an advanced marketing audience on the fly.
Improvements to the Customer Directory
The Email Subscribers Smart Group now excludes unsubscribed and bounced emails. An Email Subscriber in Customer Directory and Square Marketing is defined as a customer with a visible email address (that isn’t bounced or unsubscribed), or with a private (not-visible) email address that has made a payment with the Seller in the last 12 months.
This does not change your subscription to Square Marketing or the actual number of Email Subscribers you have. This change simply improves the accounting for these customers in Directory to be more accurate and aligned with Square Marketing. You may notice that the Email Subscriber count in Directory will be lower than the previous Reachable count by the number of unsubscribed and bounced emails you have in your Directory. Keep in mind, this is not changing the actual email delivery volume or billing, this just brings the Customer Directory numbers in line with Square Marketing.
We’re gradually rolling out these changes to all sellers over the next couple of weeks. Visit the Square Support Center for more information about the Customer Directory and how you can use Square Marketing for your business.
