Square Register UI

We have been using the Square Register for about 9 months now and had the UI set-up with all our favourites, including variables and it was a dream to use.

 

Yesterday, we were forced into doing a password change (Square Online said we had to change it otherwise we would lose access to our account).

 

We did this and of course had to then 're-login' to the Square Register, upon doing this we have completely and utterly lost our original UI and the one we have now is almost unusable - It is almost like an 'alpha' version of a new UI which users would test before being released.

 

We have been in contact with support, who have indicated this is a new UI and on the register you can not 'revert' to the previous version (unlike on the Square Stand/iPad) - Support did say they would email us and we could send them a image of our UI, but I have not yet received an email from them.

 

We have looked on the Community Forums and searched the internet and do not appear to be able to find anyone with the same issue.

 

Please, Please, can someone help us as we presently have a very expensive piece of equipment that is virtually unusable.

Hi @TBL-KL, thanks so much for flagging this on the Seller Community. 

 

I'm sorry to hear that, that sounds really stressful! 

 

My initial thought here is that the Square Register has a few different Point of Sale options, all of which have a different interface. Each time you log in, you'll be asked to select which Point of Sale you would like to use. This would the standard Point of Sale, Square for Retail, Square for Restaurants or Square Appointments. 

 

For example, the standard Point of Sale would look similar to this: Register1.png

 

Square for Retail would look like this: 

Retail Register.png

 

 

 

You can switch between any of these options by fully signing in and out of your Register. The screen would look like this (sorry for the quality):

Please let me know if any of this looks familiar. You may be prompted to make password changes from time to time to ensure that you are protected from security concerns that may arise from activity and incidents outside of Square   

 

 

There hasn't been any recent layout changes lately, so if you are seeing some different to what I have inserted above, please send me a screenshot here, it would be really helpful.

Thank you so, so much, you were correct, we had Square Retail selected and we had been using Square Standard.

 

We now have a system we can use again, thank once again

Afternoon

We had major problems on Friday as Square was down and they released Beta version for terminal

I am now being advised to set up terminals with "Restuarant Mobile" option and not to use Restuarant nor Standard.

I am trying it this afternoon as we can not pair terminals any longer and so have to login in with email and the login in with code does not work.

Hey @HarryT, thanks for flagging this. That definitely sounds odd. 

 

So just to clarify - are you having issues logging into the Terminal using the device code? Are you receiving an error message when trying to log in at all? If possible, please share a video or a screenshot of what is appearing on the screen, this will help me pinpoint where the issue is coming from.
