Will multiple locations cause complications with tax reporting?

I have two locations set in my Square account, however, both are at the same physical location.  This is the only way I could find to separate out online ticket sales for my events and bar sales for once the events begin.  Will this cause complications for tax reporting?

Hello @CottonMansion thanks for your question. It shouldn't affect your tax reporting. If you sell "taxable" items, you should set that at the ITEM level, then you'd set up STATE sales tax at a certain rate. When you sell a taxable item it will add that amount of tax to the customer's total. NOTE: Square does not remit State sales tax for you. They will send that tax $$$ collected to you, and you're responsible for saving in a separate savings account to remit according to your State's instructions. I'm not sure if your reporting will show both locations together for the sales tax collection, but if necessary just run a report for each location and then total it.

This location will show your tax report, and you may be able to filter by Location or Source.

 

If you are talking about the U.S. Federal Income Tax for you and your business, separate locations should affect that either. Your accounting software or tax preparer will take your Square income and deduct your business expenses, and from that point will calculate your tax liability.
