This is a great question! The biggest challenge for me has been training/delegating so I can offload my work in the bakery in order to work on the bakery. I started this business because I loved baking and cake decorating, but I also know I need to be promoting my business and doing some of the higher level things in order to keep the business going.

Hi Sugar Lab. Thanks for your honest feedback. I can feel your pain with this. I too used to do all the things in my business and it wore me down. I then begin to realize that without a team you can't go to the next level. Now I delegate and continue to focus on my strengths. Hope this helps

Being shut down for 3 Months shortly after opening my business.  This was not seen in any forecasts to plan on when buying or opening a business.

I don't think I have one big challenge but, many small challenges - it all adds up.   From Town regulations to State regulations, we are always being taxed in new ways and have to be accountable - we have to charge for paper bags, (no more plastic) and the Town gets a percentage.  We have to charge an additional $.27 cents on anything we ship and the State gets that money.   All of this nickle dime stuff has to be reported in addition to the sales tax reporting.  When all we really want to do is create and sell unique items.  It's an education for sure.

I think so far it's just organization. Keeping track of everything, and trying to figure out how to not spend money on every little thing available. Money for organization, money for bookkeeping, money for inventory management, none of this actually helps the bottom line. And everybody and their mom has a way to organize for you... for just one more monthly subscription price.

The people part is definitely the hardest. Not only attracting and keeping staff, but also managing personalities and different styles.

Keeping up with technology.  It is expensive and time-consuming.
